Heterosis Giveaway Winner: Joe Janak

Joe Janak, of Victoria, Texas, is the winner of the International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA)’s heterosis giveaway.

IBBA’s 2016 advertising campaign included an internet entry opportunity in which ad viewers could choose to participate. The prize at stake was $250 to be put toward the purchase of Brangus^® or Ultrablack^® genetics. Janak was the winner chosen at random.

“I purchased my Brangus^® bull from Alford Cattle Company, in Caldwell, Texas,” said Janak. “Mr. Alford is one of the best cattleman and is very easy to visit with and takes pride and special time for anyone to show you his bulls and cattle. He has very good stock.”

“His bull has a good temperament and is easy to move and get around, and I was even able to pet him in the pasture initially but haven’t tried recently. His calves are very good looking and exhibit the same temperament,” Janak stated. “They are very docile and actually come up to me and smell and lick my hand. Many times they come up to me, inquisitively, when I’m checking the cows.”

“I am very happy with the Brangus bull I purchased from Mr. Alford,” Janak said. “The Brangus bull makes very nice cross calves on my crossbred cows as well as on the Charolais cows.”
