IBBA STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE HERDSMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD GUIDELINES
Winners of this prestigious award are determined by a combination of points earned during participation in IBBA National and Regional Standard of Excellence shows and votes from their fellow exhibitors. Recipients are recognized for professionalism and excellence of skills and abilities as well as willingness and ability to deal with the public in a positive, informative and polite manner.
A Red Brangus Herdsman of the Year and a Black Brangus Herdsman of the Year will be awarded.
Candidates must exhibit cattle at a minimum of three shows, which may consist of a combination of IBBA National and Standard of Excellence Regional point shows.
Each ranch/breeder or fitting service exhibiting at a show may nominate one person per show.
5 points will be awarded for each IBBA National show at which a nominee exhibited.
3 points will be awarded for each Regional Standard of Excellence show at which a nominee exhibited.
Points may accumulate to a total of 20 points, with the top 4 point earners as calculated prior to the International Brangus show at HLSR being included on a ballot to be distributed to the exhibitors in attendance at the International Brangus show, who have exhibited Brangus cattle at a minimum of two qualifying shows. In the likely event of a tie in Total Participation Score, all exhibitors who have tied will be included on the ballot. 4 will be the minimum number nominated.
The task of calculating participation scores throughout the show year shall be assigned to the IBBA Show Committee or a duly appointed subcommittee to the Show Committee, as will the preparation of the International Show ballots and tabulation of those resulting votes.
IBBA SHOW SURVEY
In an effort to give more members a voice in the evaluation of IBBA National and Regional shows as well as IBBA Approved Judges, the IBBA has created an IBBA Show Survey. The survey, available here, allows exhibitors and spectators to give their opinions on any recent IBBA National or Regional Brangus® Show. The survey should be submitted within 30 days of the show in order for the show committee to accurately take all opinions into consideration.
